Veterinary Leadership

TRAINETICS LEADERSHIP

PROGRAMME

Trainetics Leadership Human Factors

OVERVIEW

2 day course.

CPD points (16 hrs) for all veterinary professionals.

Historically, the progression of veterinary professionals rose within their organisations and specialties based almost entirely on their technical skills. Today however, the evolving nature and landscape of veterinary healthcare means that leadership and management are equally valued and as important for career longevity and satisfaction.

The Trainetics Leadership Programme is designed for those seeking to acquire and hone the non-technical skills needed to prepare for, step into and develop within leadership positions.

This in-depth two-day programme will give participants an understanding of leadership development and how it relates to quality of care and patient safety. Participants will gain insights into team dynamics, self-awareness and the role of situational and emotional intelligence.  Alongside this, participants will gain and refine a range of highly pertinent skills including handling conflict, influencing and resilience.

Training focuses on equipping participants with a personalised suite of principles and skills, which will complement their veterinary training and facilitate a deeper understanding of the ways in which leadership can be optimised in highly complex organisations. Workshops feature highly interactive teaching and skills-development experiences in a diverse range of learning environments, delivered by industry leaders at the cutting edge of Human Factors research and thinking. Delegate groups will be kept small to maximise an open exchange of ideas and allow participants to interact on an individual basis with the faculty.

4. Develop tools and skills to enhance preparedness for, response to and learning from adverse situations, so as to maintain individual and team performance through highly effective leadership/management.

5. Appraise and tailor the development of your leadership/management skills in a setting distinct from veterinary practice.

6. Build and manage highly effective teams to achieve better patient outcomes.

7. Reflect on key aspects of the relationship between effective leadership and high performance alongside the consideration of how these can be applied, fostered and developed.

As always the faculty make the day! Well-informed, enthusiastic and genuinely keen to impart their knowledge and experience to the group, whilst also ensuring a lively and reflective discussion. The simulator training was the highlight of the two days and a useful adjunct to the lectures and discussions. I would thoroughly recommend this course to my colleagues.

Very enjoyable and uplifting experience, came away feeling energised and so pleased I attended. Excellent faculty and enjoyed the range of different individuals presenting. Good focus on what its really like 'out there' in the real world and it provided lots of food for thought that can be used to enhance my own performance. Lots of examples, tips, experience I can take back to my workplace and practice.

I thought the course was amazing. The faculty were so engaging and natural with the way in which they imparted information. I loved the simulations which were very useful exercises for me. I automatically took my learning into my own practice area and started thinking about how effective I am in my own working environment. I enjoyed the networking with others and sharing the experience with them was refreshing.
